Playing House (excerpt) 2022
I had a dream that I was crossing Greenwich tunnel but instead of Canary Wharf, I ended up in the abandoned Lelakis’ corpse of a hotel in the outskirts of my mother’s hometown, Sitia. And I re-watched the last time my grandparents peeled almonds together and my uncle made an Easter spit roast. But I was inside the TV screen.
“Playing House” is a short film featuring observational clips taken in London (UK) and Sitia (Crete, GR). From the muddy waters of the Thames river to the Cretan sea, “Playing House” is a personal exploration of mediated grief, memory and traditional family values in a virtual transportation to the "other side of the river”.
